Robert R. Roscoe Business Investor Entrepreneur 

Robert R. Roscoe is distinguished for more than 20 years of success in call center sales, marketing, and operations. He is currently the President of That’s Great News – the third company he has launched in his career. TGN specializes in designing, marketing and selling article wall plaques to an esteemed list of people and companies featured in the news. Successfully building partnerships with publishers from around the country, Mr. Roscoe has acquired additional revenue streams for their publications. Furthermore, he successfully outsourced 80% of his back-office staff to the Philippines and generates millions of contacts annually to people who have been positively featured in any type of newspaper, magazine or business journal article. This team of more than 300 employees investigates and searches through more than 8,000 publications of note per year to discover positive news and noteworthy individuals. Mr. Roscoe has developed this marketing research from scratch and currently manufactures more than 50,000 plaques per year using new digital technology that was developed by the company.

Backed by the successes of TGN and his previous endeavors, Mr. Roscoe aims to bring his skills and expertise to joint ventures, acquisitions or mergers within the $500k – $10M range. In addition to looking for new acquisition platforms, Mr. Roscoe is also open to bolt-on opportunities to his existing companies within the marketing and recognition industries.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Roscoe launched his first company, MBS Communications, Inc. (MBS), a Service Bureau providing Customer Relationship Management (CRM) services in 1987. In the ensuing decade, he grew the company over 5,000 percent by developing the business into a state-of-the-art provider of inbound/outbound direct selling services for a variety of Fortune 1000 clients. In 1992, the company was recognized by Inc. Magazine as one of the fastest growing private companies in the industry. Mr. Roscoe started the company with three employees and under his leadership grew the company to nearly 300 employees and a 20 percent EBITDA.

In 1999, Mr. Roscoe sold MBS to Protocol Communications and joined the management team as Vice President – Corporate Operations, where he was responsible for 700 employees. In the following three years, Protocol made 18 acquisitions and increased its revenue from $18 million to $200 million.

Mr. Roscoe prepared for a career in business by earning a Bachelor of Science in management information systems from Bryant College in 1986. In addition, he also graduated from the Harvard Business School OPM29, a program with 120 CEOs from 27 different countries. His interest in international opportunities began in college when he traveled around the world for a semester at sea business program. Upon broadening his borders, Mr. Roscoe acquired networking and outsourcing capabilities, as well as business relationships in China, India, and the Philippines.

The common thread running through Mr. Roscoe’s career has been his ability to grow companies while achieving excellent gross and net income margins. As a leader, he has been instrumental in creating a work environment that encourages employees’ productivity. He has demonstrated he can negotiate skillfully by being both direct and forceful as well as diplomatic. He possesses self-awareness to seek feedback from others and gain insights from mistakes. In addition, he has proven he can deal with ambiguous situations, comfortably handle risk and uncertainty and take appropriate action when necessary.

Mr. Roscoe’s out-of-the-box thinking has helped him attain certain bottom-line figures. On one occasion, he leased seven BMWs for key people who aided him before his sale of MBS to Protocol. The strategy, as did many of Mr. Roscoe’s innovative tactics, eventually yielded successful results.

In addition, Mr. Roscoe has worked as a partner at Meridian Atlantic Properties, a commercial real estate developer located in Connecticut. In this venture, he has developed numerous retail establishments for Walmart, Burger King, Taco Bell, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Cumberland Farms and Rockville Savings Bank over the past 15 years.

Mr. Roscoe lives with his wife in Cheshire, CT and has two grown children. The family enjoys skiing, snowmobiling, golf and traveling together.
